Coping with homesickness at university

By ELeyshon 21 Sep 2018

New city, new home, new people and the lingering smell of pot noodle is nothing compared to your family Sunday roast.

Feeling homesick is completely normal, so try not to panic.

I've just finished my degree and managed 3 years living more than 2 hours away from home so I've been in exactly the same position as you! It doesn't matter how far you've moved - not seeing your loved ones every single day can be hard. I hope my advice helps!

If you're really struggling, you can always jump on the train/coach and visit. Student support services are always there to help too!

Swansea University:

If you have a have a welfare issue or concern, you can speak to a trained member of staff in your school / college. All their details can be found here - http://www.swansea.ac.uk/campuslife/welfare/collegewelfarecontactdetails/

If you don’t feel comfortable speaking to someone in your college, you can speak to someone in Welfare@CampusLife or the Student’s Union Advice Centre.
