When you move out this summer make sure you do it the right way - Donate, Don't Waste!
Every year tonnes of waste gets left on Sheffield streets, most of which can be reused, recycled or donated. Donate, Don't Waste helps you have a positive impact on the environment and community in Sheffield when you move out of your accommodation.
Donate items to the British Heart Foundation
Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, clean kitchenware, CDs, DVDs and small electrical items can all be placed in the official BHF donation bags and donated at British Heart Foundation collection points across the city. But no duvets please! Charity shops will also take lots of the items (except electricals) usually thrown out at the end of tenancy.
Find your nearest donation point on the map below:
You can donate unused, unopened and non-perishable food at the HUBS or Students' Union office at HOTC (Collegiate Campus) and we'll distribute it to charities across Sheffield. We collected over 3 tonnes of food last year!
Remember to use your blue bins and boxes to recycle as much as possible. Put plastic bottles, tin cans and glass in one bin and paper and card in the other.
Anything that you can't reuse, recycle or donate can be placed in one of the council's red sacks. Anything in these will be incinerated, so only use these as a last resort!
Fill these and place them outside your house between 18th June - 8th July. Please don't leave red sacks outside of these dates as they may be ripped open and you could be fined!
You can collect red sacks from The HUBS, SHU Accommodation Services or the Students' Union office at HOTC from 18th June.
