How to spot a scam...

By JordanBrowzer 07 Apr 2018

Scams have been in the news recently and it's never been more important to keep your wits about you, especially as criminals often see students as easy targets...

Sometimes it can be very difficult to spot when something is amiss, especially as fraudsters can be very crafty and good at creating convincing scams. Protect yourself from scams by following our top tips below.

If you answer 'yes' to any of the questions below, there's a good chance it's a scam:

  • Have you been contacted unexpectedly?
  • Does the communication urge you to respond quickly?
  • Does the deal sound too good to be true?
  • Have you been asked to provide personal/financial details?
  • Does the communication have spelling mistakes and poor grammar?
  • Have you been asked to send money in advance?
  • Are the contact details vague?
  • Have you been asked to keep it a secret?

Remember - scammers can contact you by email, text, phone call, post and in person! Take steps to protect yourself from crime.
