'Black Box Take Stock - Gordon Douglas'
The Travelling Gallery is visiting QMU on Friday 9th November 2018 from 12.00pm - 4.00pm.
Travelling Gallery is a mobile art space inside a custom-built, bus, which brings high quality contemporary art exhibitions and events to schools and communities throughout Scotland.
As part of Travelling Gallery’s 40th anniversary programme, performance artist Gordon Douglas has created a playful exhibition looking at a little of the history, journeys, people, design and movement of the Gallery.
Gordon has worked closely with birthday-gram Mike Collins known as ‘The Wandering Minstrel’ creating a song of personalised birthday messages. Using a choreographed series of tracking shots of the delicate manoeuvres of the forty-foot bus Gordon has created a video celebration using places not generally seen by the public.
Gordon has fashioned four, colourful, exaggerated, humorous costumes of typical birthday-gram characters: the chicken, the crooner, the jester, and the barbershop quartet. Many of the fabrics and ornaments being resourced from Gordon’s personal collection are available to browse.
Come along and join in with all the fun!
