71 Cowgate, Old Town, Edinburgh EH1 1JW
If you’re into metal or hard rock Opium is the place to be for you. Located on Cowgate, there is a bar area with seats downstairs if you’re looking for a quiet night out and also a dance floor upstairs. Opium also hosts concerts if you fancy checking out one of the local up and coming bands. It’s free entry although there’s usually a small entry fee if you go and see one of the gigs.
- Sneaky Pete's

Located right next to Opium, Sneaky Pete’s is significantly smaller but that only adds to its charm. It hosts lots of gigs and its size really makes those concerts a unique experience. In addition to this it also hosts club nights which play a wide range of music from electro to rock so there’s really something for everyone. Sneaky Pete’s isn’t the cheapest student option but nevertheless highly recommended.
