During exam season, you're always so focused on revision and deadlines but it's important to have a bit of a break too.
If you're constantly on the go, you'll burn out and not have the energy to do any revision that's worth doing. That's why we've put some ideas together of revision break activities that you can do wherever you're studying!
If you're studying on campus...
You don't want to do anything that'll draw too much attention to yourself or require you to travel too far.
- Pop your headphones in: Put together a playlist of all your favourite motivational songs that will keep you going or listen to a podcast. Don't put it on too loud though otherwise, it might distract you.
- Keep a stress ball next to you: We all know it can be necessary during exam season! Seen as you can't keep letting out sighs when you're getting stressed - this is the next best thing.
- Grab a nice lunch: Venture onto campus and see what all your favourite catering outlets have got to offer. Getting some nice food will allow you to break off and come back with a fresh mind.
- Go for a nosy: Have a 10-minute walk around campus to get some fresh air and see if there's anything going on that's worth your attention. You might even bump into someone you know and have a quick catch-up!
- Get up every hour: Whether you're working in a café, the library or a computer room, just get up and go get a drink. It'll get you away from your books or laptop for a while and also keeps you hydrated.
If you're studying at home...
You have a bit more freedom in your own accommodation but you're also exposed to more distractions.
- Put on some background music: You need something quite relaxing and soothing that won't distract you from what you're doing. Unfortunately, putting all your favourite singalong songs on won't do you any favours.
- Make some snacks: In the morning or over your lunch break, you could prepare some snacks to have throughout your study session to keep you going. Think healthy! Fruit salads, houmous with vegetables and rice cakes will all go down a treat.
- Call a friend/relative: Hearing a familiar voice could make everything better so take some time whilst you're at home and give someone a call. It might be exactly the amount of motivation that you need!
- Do some tidying: If you're stuck on a topic, take 30 minutes to do little chores like washing up or doing some laundry and by the time you've done it, you'll have a little bit more inspiration to carry on.
- Have a quick nap: This is a risky one! If you know that naps don't make you productive then just avoid this at all costs, but if you think it'll help then set an alarm for half an hour and nap away.
