New year, new you?
As cliche as it is, the New Year is a perfect opportunity for a fresh start.
New Year's resolutions can be hard to stick to, but it's important to stay focused if you want to achieve your goal!
Here are some examples of simple resolutions to try and achieve this year:
1. Fit, Fun & Fab!
This year, why not take up a sport or activity you have always thought about starting but never got round to actually doing it. MMU Sport offer free activities that you can play for fun or competitive!
You can even be part of team Manchester Met in the Manchester 10k run!
2. Social Media detox
Wake up, check social media. Get ready, check social media. Lunch break, check social media. Get home, check social media. I can't be the only one...
A resolution that doesn't cost a penny and will do wonders for your mental health? Sounds great! Try a few days without any social media channels and see how you feel, get into the habit before exam season!
Being a student at Manchester Met gives you great opportunities and chances to give back to the community and help others in need (which also looks fab on your CV). Head over to The Union website to see what volunteering is available at a time and place that is right for you.
4. Dry January
You might be sick of the thought of alcohol after Christmas and New Year, so why not take part in Dry January? You will be so grateful for making this decision and your body will definitely thank you!
5. Put yourself first
It's easy to get caught up in drama that isn't yours, an intense workload, or even just going about your normal day and forgetting to take a minute to breathe.
Have a think about getting a diary and writing daily entries about anything and everything or scrolling through pintrest until you rearrange your room for the 15th time in the space of 2 hours... My personal favourite: Adult colouring books.
If you need support during your time in halls, you can speak to your Residential Advisor in the daily drop in between 6pm-7pm in your Reception.
