We have had a couple of our HSC Presidents come back to us with updates on events and what they have done so far this year for you. you can see what they had to say below.
Last semester Melville Grove halls student committee organised a trip to ghetto golf for 50 people and catered for 350 people to gather and have mince pies and mulled wine before the winter break.
This semester we had a pancake day event and have been organising go karting and an end of year party for all residents of the University accommodations to enjoy.
Thanks to our dedicated and hard-working members this has been a successful year of events for Melville Grove and we wish all our residents the best of luck in their exams this summer.
At the beginning of the year your Halls Student Committee was formed with the members being Hollie Naylor, Darcie Blackwell and Shania Corbishley. We began by assisting with the Formals helping to set up and ensure they ran smoothly. We then contributed to and helped organize the Carnatic Christmas Event which took place in the Herculaneum room with a complimentary drink provided and a live band who sung some excellent song covers and continued after in Carnibar until 1am with a huge turnout!
After Christmas a charity quiz was organized in aid of KISS charity. This is a charity which helps children across Uganda access education. The turnout to the quiz was fantastic and almost £100 was raised so we would like to thank everyone who participated for their generous contributions.
Given the popularity of the Formals it was decided that everyone in Carnatic would benefit from a Spring Ball. We took on this huge project and are in the final stages of organising it. We are excited to announce the event will take place on Friday 27th April 8pm until late. The event will cost £2 a ticket and include a drink, buffet, live band and DJ. We hope to see you all there! Finally, your Halls Student Committee are also in the process of organising the Carnatic Carnival. This is a huge, free end of year event which will be revealed in the upcoming weeks. It will include both day and night activities and will be a fantastic way to celebrate the end of exams
