Watch those drinks! Freshers' Week advice
We hope you're enjoying Freshers' Week so far!
To make sure you make the most of it and remember all the amazing memories you're making, it's important to act responsibly and know your limits too. Here are some things to keep in mind if you're out enjoying Freshers' Week...
Take it slow.
With so many events and so much going on, it can be easy to get carried away. To avoid crashing out early, try to track how much your drinking and know when to stop. Staying hydrated with water throughout the day and night will help!
Food, glorious food.
Don't wait until the end of the night to pick up a kebab or cheesy chips. Make sure to have a hearty breakfast and a decent meal before heading out.
Keep an eye on your stuff.
Avoid leaving your bag on the table where it's easy to grab. Keep it closed and don't have your phone or wallet in your back pocket.
Obvious but important!
Never leave your drink unattended even for a second and don't accept a drink from a stranger. They might seem simple but make sure you don't become a target.
If you're in a group, stay as a group. Don't wander off on your own and if you need to go to a cash machine, take someone with you.
The final hurdle
Even if you're not far from home, it's always safer to get in a taxi. Try to keep cash for when you need it and have licensed taxi numbers saved on your phone.
(Central Taxis (Edi) 0131 229 2468, City Cabs (Edi) 0131 228 1211, Five Star Taxis (SBC) 01896 756789).
So, next time you head out, even if you're not having alcohol, always be alert and pay attention to your surroundings at all times.
